good night, and good luck. (2005) - Movie Review, Analysis, and Deconstruction Transcript

Aaron and Steve discuss the 2005 film “good night, and good luck.” During the Red Scare of the 1950’s, fear in America was rampant over who could be harboring Communist sympathies. Senator Joe McCarthy of Wisconsin exploited this fear in a power grab masquerading as a Senate investigative committee who would routinely accuse people of being a Communist, while denying them proper due process. When these tactics reached a breaking point, it was up to Edward R. Murrow (David Strathairn) and his crew at the CBS’ See It Now news show, to stand up to the Senator, and shed light on his unethical and un-American tactics.
